Pet of the Week: Mr. Kitty

ADOPTED!!!   Our pet of the week is the massive Mr. Kitty!

Mr. Kitty was an owner surrender. He is 7, declawed, neutered, and totally huge! His coat was very matted when he entered WCAHS care. He was also pretty overweight. He has slimmed down since then.

"Who're you calling fat?"
His foster mom did her best to brush out the tangles. He had severe matting all over his back; brushing them out actually caused bald spots in his coat because there were some places that were completely matted.

After one grooming session. That's a lot of tangles!
In the end we let a professional shave him down—maybe we should start calling him Mr. Lion! He must have been very uncomfortable with all those mats. Now that he's been shaved, you can see the places where the mats were the worst, because the skin in those places is lighter.

Kind of neat to see him shaved down, with the white and dark coloring of his regular skin color.
Mr. Kitty, like many older cats, likes to do things on his own terms. If he doesn’t want to do something, he will let you know. But when he’s ready to cuddle, good luck keeping him away! He loves his neck and belly scratched. He likes the warm bathroom and is often found sitting on the bathmats when his foster humans get out of the shower.
Mr. Kitty says, "Where are you gonna sit?"
Mr. Kitty gets along with other cats, dogs, and kids.
Cubby (also adoptable!) says, "This is MY Mr. Kitty."
He is a sweetheart who is searching for a place to settle down that he can call his own. If you’re interested in adopting Mr. Kitty, call the Waseca County Animal Humane Society at (507) 201-7287 e-mail wcahsadoptions@gmail.com for an application.  Mr. Kitty’s adoption fee is $25 through the month of December.
