Have you ever wondered what goes on at a pet adoption event? Well, now's your chance!
First, we arrive and set up. Where we're at depends on the location. Today we were at Petco, and back by all the cat stuff. There's always a fair amount of setting up to do, with the crates and litter boxes and pamphlets and what have you.
Then we meet and fawn over any new pets that may have come in since the last adoption event. Today that pet was Bo. He's a 6-year-old chocolate lab (maybe crossed with St. Bernard or mastiff.) Very adorable.
Bo checked to make sure the chairs were set up right. They were.
Then Volunteer Angie made sure that Boo's hugs were still good. They were.
After that, the cats got to relax a bit. Today we had a small group, with Bo as the only dog, and Henry, Boo, and Diesel representing the cats. Henry was very impressed with things.
If you've ever stopped by one of our events before, you might have noticed that Boo and Diesel's crate has a hammock in it. Boo's hugs are still good!
Be sure to look closely--Diesel likes to hide underneath! Lots of people are surprised when they notice there are two cats in the crate!
After a while, Boo gets bored and takes Volunteer Angie on a walk.
They check out all the new products and price check the food.
Boo even spot-Swiffers the floor when he deems it necessary.
Henry says, "A cat on a leash? Ridiculous."
Bo (confusing, with Bo and Boo!) checked out the store and met people. He appreciated being fawned over.
It made him super sleepy though!
All that networking makes Boo sleepy too. He slept so hard he fell out of his hammock--and kept on sleeping.
So there you have it! That's our adoption day in a nutshell! In between the walking and the hugging there are also all the great people who stop by to say hi and the awesome employees that make each adoption event great. If you haven't experienced a WCAHS Adoption Day yet, check our calendar and plan on coming to the next one! You might meet your next fur-ever pet there!
