If you're a visitor to our Facebook page, Princess is probably a familiar face.
Princess is a 7-year-old German Shepard/Husky cross. She came to WCAHS in January 2013. Her former owner lost their home, and was forced to give up Princess. She was held by Rochester animal control for two months and was scheduled to be euthanized.

WCAHS stepped in and rescued her on her last day.

Princess' first picture in her new foster home. |
At her heaviest, Princess weighed 114 pounds. She was in need of vet work, including spaying and the removal of tumors on her mammary glands. It was decided that these surgeries would need to be performed separately, due to Princess' age and weight. She would also need to drop a significant amount of weight before we could even talk about scheduling the surgeries.

A month later. Doesn't she look happier already? |
After four months in foster care, Princess is down to 87 pounds! When she first arrived, she could barely manage walking across the house. Today she loves going outside and is up to walking two miles a day!
She was spayed on Monday, April 22. Here she is at the vet's.
Princess' spay surgery went well. She had a tumor under her tongue that the vets removed as well.

Another picture of Princess recovering at home. She'll have her stitches removed in two weeks. Let's hope for a speedy recovery!

Poor girl. Get well soon! |
We'd like to thank the staff at the Waseca-Clarks Glove Vet Clinic for all the great care and compassion they've given this special dog. Another shout-out to her foster family, Art and Jan, who have done such an excellent job getting Princess to a healthier weight!
With her mammary surgery still coming up, WCAHS is seeking donations to continue getting Princess the care she needs. We want her medical care to be completed before putting her up for adoption. Click the box below to help Princess get that much closer to reaching her forever home.
If you are interested in becoming Princess' forever home when she's ready, shoot an e-mail to wcahsadoptions@gmail.com. Her adoption fee is $90. Princess also qualifies for the Seniors for Seniors program. If you are a senior citizen and get approved to adopt Princess, your fee will be cut in half.
UPDATE, 4/25: Princess had to go back to the vet last night--she opened the sutures on her tongue. She had to get re-stitched and was also given some fluids. Any financial help you can give to help Princess would be very much appreciated!
